The dorky FAQ
What is dorky?
dorky is the personal weblog of Peter Birk. That’s me. I use it to aggregate different articles of interest, photos, videos, music that I find as I surf the Internet.
“Surfs”?
We used to surf the Web, back in the day when the Web was new and we were young and easily entertained. It’s a method of browsing web pages that has been rendered obsolete with the rise of the search engines. See, we were fascinated by the fact that these pages were linked, and would follow links for hours, never sure where we would end up. When we found cool stuff, we would post it to our weblogs to let other people know about it.
What’s with the fiction?
I write fiction. I’ve done so for many years. When I’ve attempted to write non-fiction entries on this blog, I was very dissatisfied with the voices that these entries produced, which reminded me of academic writing. The entries written in prose are exercises where I take a topic or idea that I want to write about and create a scene around it.
So, they are entirely fictional?
Entirely. Any resemblance to anyone or anything in my real life is entirely and unintentionally coincidental.
What’s with the funky color scheme? It makes my eyeballs bleed.
The green on black color scheme is intended to be reminiscent of old monochrome terminals. I like it.
How does dorky integrate social media?
All posts to dorky are echoed on the Twitter feed at @kiyote23. The Twitter feed is posted as Facebook status updates at Facebook.com/kiyote23. The RSS feed, the Twitter account and an Instagram account are aggregated at kiyote23.tumblr.com.
Did you really get asked these questions frequently?
See the above question about fiction.
